The Satanist of the Naniwa Circle An Exhibit of the Works of Kitano Tsunetomi 2003/02/01 - 2003/03/23 Kitano Tsunetomi (1880-1947) was born in Kanazawa but moved to Osaka in 1897 to pursue an artistic career, and became a student of Inano Toshitsune the following year. After being active in the exhibitions of the Imperial Fine Art Academy, he alone participated in the exhibitions of the restored Institute of Japanese Fine Art, and thus became a pillar of artistic circles in Osaka. This exhibition features an introduction to Kitano's uniquely styled portraits of voluptuous Osaka beauties, together with other works done as illustrations for novels, and posters. Artist: Tsunetomi Kitano |
