Learning from Nature : a Dynamic Father and Son Horin and Kazuhiko Fukuoji 2002/04/06 - 2002/05/12 This exhibition features the works of two artists related as father and son. A principal artist of the reestablished Japan Art Institute Exhibition (Inten), Fukuoji Horin was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit in 1998. His son Fukuoji Kazuhiko, also active in the Inten, was awarded the Japan Academy of Art prize in 2001, the youngest artist in Japanese history to be so awarded.This exhibition introduces Horin's "Himalaya" series which depicts the grandeur and majesty of nature, together with the visionary fantasies typical of Kazuhiko's work, based on themes of moon, stars, and fireflies.
