Nishida Tojiro (1915-1998) devoted his life to the pursuit of "the reality that lies behind the visible forms of the universe." Nishida is known for his covers for the magazine Kokutetsu shutoken news (Metropolitan Japan Railway News) but this first systematic retrospective exhibition will look at the whole of his life and achievement in both words and pictures, starting with early works and including his series of mountains, and especially his beloved roses, as well as his sketches and occasional essays.
