The Art and Culture of Siena L'arte e la cultura di Siena from the collections of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena and Fondazione Accademia Musicale Chigiana 2001/10/06 - 2001/12/09 In the late Middle Ages Siena, in the province of Tuscany in Italy, was a flourishing city state, its brilliant and elegant culture even influencing that of nearby Florence. This exhibition from the unknown collection of one of Siena's famous private banks will feature about 100 paintings, sculptures, and ceramics other items, none of them shown before in Japan, to present the best of Siena's art from the early Renaissance to the 18th century.
