TOYOSHIRO FUKUDA :

The Scenery of Akita

1999/11/27 - 2000/01/16

This is one of the exhibitions introducing the natural landscapes and poetic feelings depicted by artists rooted in the distinctive land and climate of east Japan. Toyoshiro Fukuda (1904-1970) worked with themes of Akita, his native prefecture, in his ardent pursuit of new forms of Japanese painting (Nihonga) that he sustained from the early 20th century well into the postwar period. Some 70 works from his oeuvre are introduced, including drawings and paintings.

Artist: Toyoshiro Fukuda
