Faces of the Golden Age: Seventeenth Century Dutch Portraits 1994/09/10 - 1994/10/30 Commissioning a portrait was a privilege limited to the upper classes in Europe, but in 17th century Holland, it came to be popular among the bourgeois class. The realistic portraits in this exhibition presented clues to the essence of Western humanism. |
