Scenes depicting The Tale of Genji formed the centerpiece of this exhibition. The famous Japanese-style painter Tadashi Moriya took over 3 years to complete these 130 works while approaching his 80th birthday. The exhibition also introduced designs for kabuki stage costumes and 50 paintings of historical women such as Masako Hojyo and Umeko Tsuda.
